The British government divested itself of all powers and control over the affairs of the Dominions after the 15th of August 1947. The Indian Independence Act converted India from a dependency of the crown into two independent Dominions within the British Commonwealth of Nations.

Mountbatten Plan actually prepared the base for the Indian Independence Act, of 1947. The Mountbatten Plan also known as the Plan of 3rd June was accepted by all the political parties in the country. The Muslim League was happy because the Mountbatten Plan decided to go for the partition of India.
Actually in the initial phases of the National Freedom Struggle Indian Masses particularly the educated middle class and capitalists were the seeker of Independence and the Indian Military Forces under the banner of the British Government oppressing their own people. But it seems the enthusiasm among people for independence spread like waves and these waves stimulated Indian Military Men also.
The members of the mission were of the opinion that the creation of a separate state would not solve the problem of communal riots. It was because the percentage of non-Muslims living in the north-west zone of Pakistan was 37.93% and non-Muslims living in the north-eastern zone was 48.31% of the total population. So, it would be against the wishes and interests of a very large proportion of the population.
On a final examination and analysis of the Wavell Plan, we found that it was a snare… this arrangement by which… we would have signed our death warrant. Next, in the proposed Executive we would be reduced to a minority of one-third. All the other minorities such as Scheduled Caste, Sikhs and Christians have the same goal as the Congress. On the top of this came the last straw…So, we finally broke with the Wavell Plan.
the British Government came out with certain negotiations. From now onwards, Britishers were actually trying to have some more years in India, because they knew that their Empire was on its way to shattering. Whereas Indians were enthusiastic and on their way to complete independence.
in the response to Cripps Mission, the Quit India Movement was started. In this movement, Gandhi gave the slogan of Do-or-Die. So, here in this post, we will understand the outburst of the Quit India Movement.
Gandhi decided that he would not lead the movement. He asked people to come for the Individual Satyagraha. Individual Satyagraha was launched to affirm the right to speech. The aim of launching Individual Satyagraha was not to seek only complete independence but to show that nationalist patience is not their weakness.
All these mass movements got leadership from the middle class, finance from the Capitalist class and people from the suppressed class. So, on all the fronts except the military, the Indian Masses were performing very enthusiastically to get independence.
The concept of the Indian Federation was a revolutionary point. Because for the first time Britisher Government accepted India as a single unit from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh.
